Dear Friends of Wilbur:
This past weekend a group of about 10 of us of us drove into Bear Valley, Wilbur's back yard, to look at the wildflowers. While we were walking and taking in the beauty of the flowers a white car stopped and a man got out. He was immediately recognized by my cousin Marcia Donahue and my daughter Sarana. Standing before us in the midst of this vast array of floral extravaganza was Warren Roberts, Director of the University of California, Davis, Arboretum. With a jovial good humor, he tossed us Latin names of flowers and his words added color to the color. What good luck!
Our caravan made its way back to Wilbur. I was on an ATV with Sarana and friend Karen Flynn and we sang our way home. After our brisk and refreshing ride we were ready for the baths, followed by the late afternoon Yoga seminar, led by Thomas Fortel, and then of course, dinner!
Charlie and Marian Cascio, formerly head chefs at Esalen, were our guest chefs; their menu is printed below. Marian's parents, also chefs, were visiting from Germany and they jumped right into the cooking. Who says too many cooks spoil the broth? Charlie is currently working on an Esalen cookbook and we began talking about a Wilbur Hot Springs cookbook and history.
Our next Guest Chef Weekend will take place on May 20-21. Because of the extended rainy season this year, the wildflowers have continued to be in spectacular bloom -- and if the weather holds, they may still be in their glory in late May. Once again, five gourmet meals are just $100 additional per person.
Our next Yoga seminar will be on the weekend of June 3-5, led by my daughter Sarana. Look for her in June's Yoga Journal, now on the stands. She's featured on Pages 82-85.

Good health to you one and all,
